Partners in crime, student Renee Wee and Archer
The adopted dog who loves sun-tanning
Teenager Renee Wee was at a random family outing to a dog café Pawsnpans when she fell in love with Archer. The honey-eyed dog was then housed at the café and looking for potential adopters.
It did not take long for Wee to adopt Archer at Joyous Bark in 2016 when the dog was one year old.
“We were looking around for a dog as our grandparents’ Golden Retriever had passed on from old age 2 years prior. Archer had caught our eye when we entered the cafe as he was very friendly to us and was very chill and calm at the same time,” shares Wee, a JC2 student at Raffles Institution.
archer the adopted dog, embraced his new home immediately
After a two-weeks trial at home, Archer settled in quickly and ran around to examine his new home. He soon found his favourite spots to sun tan in the garden and places to sit and guard the house.
A dog with an easy-going temperament, Archer gets along with almost everyone.
He enjoys going on walks and meeting friendly dogs and humans too. He also has an affinity with Golden Retrievers and strangely cautious around smaller dogs.
“He quite likes befriending Golden Retrievers while on walks but is afraid of smaller dogs. He also enjoys taking mid afternoon naps in the sun and can be a bit grumpy if you disturb him when he is in the middle of one,” shares Wee.
adopted dog with a hearty appetite for food and life
Archer is a self-professed foodie and is very excited in the presence of food, which makes it hard to say ‘no’ to his cuteness while eating.
On top of commercial brand food for dogs, Archer loves his rice with beef, sweet potato and hard-boiled egg. For snacks, he loves to chomp on an apple and watermelon slices.
However, he draws the line with durians. “We’ve let him try durian but he didnt like it and the smell very much,” Wee recalls fondly.
Since Archer eats – a lot, he has dental chews in between meals to keep his teeth and gums healthy.
Often all that eating makes Archer lazy and sleepy. According to Wee, he prefers naps over playing fetch. Sometimes, Archer would slowly doze off to slumber land in the middle of playtime much to Wee’s disbelief!
Archer’s laid-back personality makes him very human-oriented.
“He loves meeting new people and is very patient to children even when they curiously hold his ears and tail.”
